Neck, anger and a sense of injustice
Somatic workshop
29/03/2020, 12:00 - 18:00
Address: Moscow School of Yoga,
B. Serpukhovskaya st., building 19/37, building 4
By popular demand, we’ve created a somatic workshop dedicated to working with the neck.
In this workshop, we will explore not only physical discomfort but also how the neck muscles help hold emotions like anger and the feeling of injustice. These deep and powerful feelings often take root when, as children, we hear comparisons to others and later begin comparing ourselves and our lives to others. This sense of injustice can grip a person so strongly that it turns them into a rigid fighter for fairness in every aspect of life.
In this state, individuals lose sensitivity to their own needs, adopting rigid patterns of behavior driven by extremes of what they believe "should" or "should not" be. This rigidity is reflected in the body, primarily affecting the thoracic spine, heart, and neck. Neck muscles become like steel cables, restricting the free movement of the head and causing significant suffering, such as headaches, dental pain, throat issues, and more.
The feeling of injustice does not exist in isolation—it is deeply rooted in a lack of freedom, self-reliance, trust, and belief in oneself. Beneath the feeling of injustice lies anger. We often believe anger is caused by someone else's words or actions, or even our own, but in reality, anger arises when our values go unrecognized and unsupported.
In our somatic workshop, we aim to create a space where participants can freely engage with their feelings of anger and injustice without attempting to "improve" themselves or force themselves to be someone they are not. We will practice opening up to our vulnerabilities and allowing others to share these moments with us.
