About the event
In this workshop, we will explore walking through the methods of somatic learning (Hanna Somatics and the Feldenkrais Method).
We will observe how our habitual way of walking reflects our physical condition, emotional well-being, and sense of safety. Through carefully selected lessons (Awareness Through Movement), we will discover how to utilize the brain’s incredible ability to form new neural connections. This will help us develop better habits, reduce or eliminate pain, improve our functioning, and walk more efficiently.
During the lessons, we will move from the most basic and simple movements that form the foundation of walking to more complex, full-body movements.
What You’ll Learn:
📋 These lessons will improve the functioning of the shoulder and pelvic girdles, including arms, shoulders, shoulder blades, collarbones, pelvis, hip joints, spine, and legs.
By establishing clearer connections between different parts of the musculoskeletal system, participants will notice the following improvements:
- The ribs will expand and contract more effectively.
- Shoulders and shoulder blades will glide more freely across the torso.
- Increased awareness of hip joints and their proper use will enhance the range of motion in the pelvis and legs.
You will leave the workshop with a lighter, stronger, and more confident gait, and you will know how to continue learning independently by repeating the lessons at home.
🔴 From the Workshop Leader, Ekaterina Zilbershtein:
"Recently, I’ve been enjoying the ease I feel while walking so much that I want to share this experience. Before I started practicing somatics, I never thought walking was something one needed to learn. Somatic lessons bring an entirely new quality to the movement of the pelvis, feet, hip joints, shoulders, spine, and the entire body. Now, I find myself walking down the street effortlessly, often passing other pedestrians, without exerting any extra effort. I invite everyone who wants to walk longer, lighter, and with more joy to join us!"
