Hello everyone!
I'm Katya Zilbershtein, an educator, psychologist, and candidate of psychological sciences.
Twelve years ago, almost "by chance," I discovered somatics, and since then, it has become both my profession and my passion. I graduated from The Ingle Institute for Somatic Movement Education in 2014 and completed the professional program in the Feldenkrais Method in the tradition of Y. Rivarant, led by Elisabeth Blum, in 2022.
Currently, I'm undergoing training in Somatic Experiencing, a method developed by Peter Levine.
In 2023, I relocated to Israel. I now live in Ra'anana, where I offer individual sessions and group classes. I also conduct a significant portion of my work online.
Somatics for me is a way to stay alive.
When I look around, I see how disconnected people are from their bodily experiences, how they spend most of their lives "in their heads," often unaware that they can pay attention to their bodies, not just when something hurts.
This simple idea forms the foundation of somatic learning: you can return your attention to your body and start to become aware of what is happening within. It's incredible, but people visibly become happier. I witness this every day.
When a slouched person with a dull gaze leaves the room with eyes sparkling, with desires, with a dancing walk, as if they've shed decades from their shoulders, it's truly remarkable.
What's even more surprising is that people become kinder to themselves. They start to feel how they themselves tense their shoulders, tighten their hips, how they hold themselves back from moving, how they freeze and hold their breath.
When a person starts to realize what they are actually doing, they gain the power of choice.
Relax and pleasure from movement
Relaxation and Enjoyment of Movement
I can teach you how to relax and experience more pleasure in being present within your body. When we lose touch with our body, we "forget" how to engage certain muscle groups. This phenomenon is called sensory-motor amnesia. It manifests as stiffness in specific areas of the body, constant tension, or restricted range of motion.
Somatics provides effective tools to transform sensory-motor amnesia into sensory-motor memory. From the very first session, the vast majority of people begin to feel changes that accumulate with each lesson, leading to a new quality of movement and a renewed sense of being truly alive in the body.
Focus on Learning
For me, it’s not just about helping someone relax or making the pain go away. My work revolves around retraining. Most of who we are is shaped by habits. Once we learn how to walk, sit, brush our teeth, and perform countless other daily movements, we tend to repeat them automatically.
However, old habits can sometimes lead to significant problems: pain, poor posture, and restricted mobility. In such cases, it becomes essential to start recognizing our movement patterns, feeling ourselves in motion, and choosing easier, more efficient ways to move.
My priority is creating a safe space where people can explore and discover new knowledge about themselves with curiosity and openness.
